Leicester City Council Black Workers Support Group (BWSG) Black History Month 2018 Event

Leicester City Council’s Black Worker Support Group has invited Nottingham News Centre and the Digging deep HLF project to take part in an event to celebrate Leicester City Council’s Black History Month 2018.

BWSG is one of the employee network support groups within the Council and its mission is to meet the support needs of Black and Asian staff within the council and to work with the Council to meet its equality commitments. BWSG has organised it 4th annual event to celebrate Black History Month 2018 the theme of event is the *Contribution of the Windrush Generation . The aim of the event is twofold. First to highlight the role played by organisations / business in the community. The second is to highlight and celebrate the impact the Windrush Generation locally, nationally and international.

The event is endorsed by Councillor Manjula Sood the Assistant City Mayor for Communities & Equalities and is open to ALL Council employees. It takes place on Tuesday 23rd October 9.00-12.00pm for BWSG members and then 12.30pm- 2.30pm Stalls and organisations presentation for all LCC Employees at Leicester City Council’s prestigious City Hall headquarters Leicester City Centre.
The Digging Deep HLF project will provide a stand at the event where members can converse with us and get greater insight into our area of heritage expertise and secondly to do short presentations on the role and heritage work of Nottingham News Centre.
